New Announcements from the Nintendo Direct Recap

Nintendo again has made new announcements for the upcoming games for the Nintendo Switch. They have also provided updates on games with new DLC for characters coming in the 4th quarter of this year. So here is a recap of what I think are the biggest announcements they made from this Nintendo Direct. If you want to watch the Nintendo Direct because you’re bored or just missed it you can watch it right here

Last DLC Smash Character reveal on October 5th

Unfortunately, the smash character reveal wasn’t in this Nintendo Direct, but instead will be on October 5th. This will be the last DLC character for the game, which is giving fans of the series more speculation about what character will be in it. Could it be Sora? Dante? Or the poor Waluigi who got shafted for not being in the game? There’s no telling who could be in there since most characters are randomly pick. However, with the rise of the Nickelodeon All Stars game around the corner, it better be a good DLC character that fans will be please with(even though some will not be please). Also, hopefully they will still patch the game after the DLC character to fix any bugs and glitches. My guess for the last DLC character reveal is Crash Bandicoot.

Kirby and the Forgotten Land Reveal

A new Kirby was revealed at the Nintendo Direct event showing Kirby waking up in an unknown land. The enemies that Kirby faces seems to be the same from the other Kirby games however, the bosses that Kirby faces are called the Beast Corps who captured the Waddle Dees and put them in cages. It’s up to Kirby to rescue the Waddle Dees and defeat the Beast Corps altogether. The gameplay in this game is more of a 3D approach to the series that is similar to Kirby Air Ride and with the environments being like Kirby 64. However, Kirby still has to reach a goal like the other entries in the series so it not an open world game. The game is schedule to be release in the Spring of 2022.

Bayonetta 3

The long awaited Bayonetta 3 has been on hiatus or in development since 2017 when it was announced at the game awards. It was the last game announced on the Nintendo Direct showing off the gameplay of what to expect from the game. The gameplay seems to be very similar to the previous entries in the series although it introduced a new mechanic called demon slayer. It’s being directed by Yusuke Miyata who previously directed the critical acclaim Bayonetta 2. The game is to be release in 2022.

Adding Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis Games

Nintendo is starting to revamp their Online services by adding Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis classics. The games that will be included for the Nintendo 64 will be The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, Star Fox 64, Super Mario 64 and more. The Sega Genesis games will be Sonic 2, Ecco the Dolphin, Golden Axe and more. Nintendo will also be providing Nintendo 64 and Sega Genesis controllers that will be compatible with the Switch. The prices for the controllers will be $49.99. Also, games like Banjo Kazooie, Majora’s Mask and F-Zero X will be included later in the library. With no pricing plan announced for the expansion membership, the plan will probably cost slightly more than the current membership. The membership will be available at the end of October.

Super Mario Bros movie gets an update

After the disappointing 1993 Mario Bros movie, Nintendo announced that they will be making a movie featuring the Super Mario characters back in 2017 again. Although Shigeru Miyamoto had interest to make a Mario film since the Virtual Console service was created. This movie will be animated by Illumination, which is the same company who did Minions and Despicable Me. It will also have the creators of Teen Titans Go! directing the film altogether. The main cast was announced at the Nintendo Direct, which includes Chris Pratt as Mario, Jack Black as Bowser, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong and  Keegan-Michael Key as Toad. Charles Martinet who is the original voice of Mario will add additional voices in the film. The film is to be release on December 21, 2022.

Chocobo GP

Final Fantasy is making a sequel to their racing game in the 90s called Chocobo Racing. Like Chocobo Racing, Chocobo GP is going to be similar to Mario Kart however, the characters pick up items called magicite, which can cast different spells depending on what the player gets. If the player collects the same type of spell, the magicite becomes more powerful and will have higher effects for the players in front. Each character will also have a unique ability specific to them with different outcomes. It will have a story mode, the ability to make custom tracks and elimination like tournaments that can be up to 64 players with online play. Some of the playable characters include Chocobo, Camilla, Steiner, Vivi, Gilgamesh, Shiroma, Behemoth, Mog, Dungeon Hero X and Cid. The game is to be release in 2022.

Splatoon 3 Update “Return of the Mammalians”

Splatoon 3 was announced earlier this year in February. The Nintendo Direct provide more information including the new Story mode and new abilities being add in the game. The story takes places in Splatlands, which is a scorching hot desert inhabit by battle ready Inklings and Octolings. With Splatsville being a city of Chaos now after the final Splatfest, the outcome of the city is now in deep ruins. The gameplay will be similar to the previous entries where the players is divided into two teams of four. They’re also two main forms like the humanoid form allowing players to use weapons to spread ink against the opponent. Then there’s the Squid form, which allows the players to swim through the ink really fast and go up wall as well. The Squids can also recharge their ink tanks faster too.

New techniques includes dodging attacks and giving the possibilities of different attack options. Techniques like the Squid roll will allow players to leap and twirl out of the ink and there’s the abilities of the squid surge where players can quickly swim up ink walls and be up top. The game is to be release on 2022.

Animal Crossing Direct

Like Smash, Animal Crossing will have it own direct later in October. Even though little information was provided, Animal Crossing New Horizons will get a big update in November. The update will most likely include the Brewster who had his own café in Animal Crossing Wild World called the The Roost where K.K Slider played songs. Maybe other features will be added as well.

ActRasier Remake after 31 years?

The original ActRasier was release on the SNES in 1990. The new one called ActRasier Renaissance will allow players to battle in 2D levels through different lands and do city building again. It will still retain the old music, but will also include new music as well. It will also have new stories, new stages and more new bosses for the player to go against. Square Enix has not forgotten this classic and you can play it right now on the Nintendo Switch digitally. There’s no word of a physical copy release.
